In Best of Four, each player is dealt four cards instead of three and picks whichever three-card combination. Out of the four possible three-card subsets of a four-card hand. Ranks highest under classic Teen Patti's rules. The hand-ranking ladder itself (Trail, Pure Sequence, Sequence, Color, Pair, High Card) doesn't change; only the selection step before it is new. Because everyone is choosing their best three of four rather than being dealt exactly three, average hand strength rises across the whole table, so a hand that would be a solid call in classic Teen Patti, like a low pair, is only middling here. Some tables reveal the discarded fourth card after a Show and some don't. Confirm which applies at your table.

How the Four-Card Deal and Selection Works

Betting (boot, blind/seen, Show) works exactly as in classic Teen Patti. The only change is the deal itself: each player receives four cards instead of three, and privately chooses which three to keep as their playing hand, discarding the fourth. With four cards, there are exactly four possible three-card combinations to choose from (leaving out each of the four cards in turn), and a player picks whichever of those four ranks highest under the standard hand-ranking chart.

Tables differ on whether the discarded fourth card is revealed at a Show or stays hidden for good. This doesn't change your own strategy, but it affects how much you can infer about an opponent's actual four-card deal after the hand ends. Check which convention your table uses.

Why Hands Are Stronger Here Than in Classic Play

Choosing the best of four possible three-card hands can only match or improve on a single random three-card deal. It never makes your hand worse, since you always have the option to ignore the fourth card entirely and effectively play as if dealt three. In practice this means pairs, sequences and colors all appear more often across the table than they do in classic Teen Patti, since players are filtering out their weakest possible combination rather than being stuck with it. A low pair, which is a perfectly playable hand in classic Teen Patti, is a below-average hand here. Raise your standards for what you're willing to bet on accordingly.

Best of Four Teen Patti: FAQ

How many cards are dealt in Best of Four?

Four per player, instead of the usual three. Each player then picks their best three-card combination and discards the fourth.

Does the hand ranking change in Best of Four?

No. Trail, Pure Sequence, Sequence, Color, Pair and High Card rank in the same order as classic Teen Patti. Only the selection step (choosing your best three of four cards) is different.

Is a low pair a good hand in Best of Four?

It's weaker here than in classic Teen Patti. Since every player is choosing their strongest combination out of four cards, average hand strength across the table is higher, so a low pair is only middling.
